Traditional black Italian type.Uniform, 7-8" long by 3-4" diameter, dark purple fruits are glossy and blemish free. Tall, sturdy plants can set fruit under cool conditions. Green calyx. LATINE NAME SOLANUM MELONGENA DAYS TO MATURITY 67 DAYS LIFE CYCLE ANNAUL HYBRID STATUS HYBRID (F1) GROWING INFORMATION CULTURE: Eggplants require fertile, well-drained soil with a pH range of 6.2-6.8. Sow seed in flats indoors during early spring, or 6-8 weeks prior to planting outdoors. Sow 4 seeds/in., ¼" deep, and maintain soil temperature at 80-90°F (27-32°C) until emergence and 70°F (21°C) thereafter. Seed will not germinate in cool soil. After true leaves form, thin to 2-3" apart in flats or transplant into 2-3" pots or plug trays. To harden plants, reduce water and temperature to about 60°F (16°C) for about a week before planting out. Transplant outdoors late spring or early summer once the weather has thoroughly settled. Eggplants are tender, and cold weather may weaken them. Use row covers for a boost in performance and insect control. Remove when plants reach the covers or when blossoms first appear. Space transplants 18" apart in rows 30-36" apart, or 2 rows on plastic mulch, 18-24" between plants. It is important to be mindful of over-fertility. Too much nitrogen often results in large, bushy plants that produce only one small set of fruit. STAKING: Eggplants may be pruned and staked to keep the fruits straight. DISEASE: Practice lengthy crop rotation to avoid Verticillium wilt. A 4-5 year rotation for all Solanaceae crops is recommended. INSECT PESTS: Fabric row covers are the recommended method of control for flea beetles and Colorado potato beetles (CPB) for newly set transplants. Once covers are removed, regularly check undersides of leaves and crush any orange egg masses of the CPB. HARVEST: Clip fruit stem with shears. Pick fruits of desired size regularly to encourage further production. DAYS TO MATURITY: From transplanting.

LATINE NAME CITRULLUS LANATUS DAYS TO MATURITY 85 DAYS LIFE CYCLE ANNAUL HYBRID STATUS OPEN POLLINATED GROWING INFORMATION CULTURE: A light, well-drained soil with a pH of 6.5–7.5 and a southern exposure is ideal. Good soil moisture is important in early stages of growth and during pollination when fruits are setting. After this point do not water the last week before fruits are ripe, as overwatering can cause bland fruit. TRANSPLANTING: Sow indoors in 50-cell plug trays or 2–3" peat pots in late April or one month (no sooner!) before transplanting outdoors. Plant 2 seeds per cell or pot, about ½–1" deep. Keep temperature 80–90°F (27–32°C) until germination. Handle young plants carefully and never let the soil dry out. Grow seedlings at 75°F (24°C). Reduce water and temperature for a week to harden seedlings. When the weather is frost-free, warm, and settled, transplant 2–3' apart in rows 6–8' apart, or thin to 1 plant/pot or cell with scissors and transplant 18" apart. Even hardened watermelon seedlings are tender! Do not disturb roots when transplanting, and water thoroughly. DIRECT SEEDING: Sow 1–2 weeks after last frost when soil is warm, above 70°F (21°C), 3 seeds every 18–36", ½–1" deep, thinning to 1 plant/spot. TRIPLOID/SEEDLESS: Start indoors under favorable conditions to ensure proper germination. A pollenizer watermelon, or normal seeded watermelon, is required for fruit set. Seeds of a pollenizer and complete growing instructions are included with each order. Although the fruits are practically seedless, a few seeds may form under stressful conditions. For more information, see our Seedless Watermelon production guide. ROW COVERS: Since watermelons like consistently warm conditions, plastic mulch and row covers will make for earlier crops and better yields, especially in the North. Remove covers when plants have female flowers (tiny fruit at base of blossom). DISEASES: Choose varieties resistant to diseases in your area. "Sudden wilt" is a complex disease and cold weather stress syndrome in late summer when plants have a heavy set of ripening watermelons, can cause plants to wilt almost overnight. Keep plants healthy with good fertility and irrigation to avoid sudden wilt. INSECT PESTS: Protect against cucumber beetles with floating row covers applied at transplanting, or control with insecticides such as pyrethrin or azadarachtin.RIPENESS: There are 3 ways to tell when a watermelon is ripe: 1) the tendril nearest the point on the vine where fruit stem attaches is browning/dead; 2) the spot where the fruit rests on the ground is yellow; and 3) the classic mystery — you hear "punk," as opposed to "pink" or "pank," when you flick the melon with your fingers. STORAGE: Hold at 45°F (7°C) and 85% relative humidity 2–3 weeks. DAYS TO MATURITY: From transplanting; add about 10 days if direct-seeded. AVG. DIRECT SEEDING RATE: 1 oz./340', 1,000 seeds/500', 3 oz./1,000', 1⅓ lb./acre at 3 seeds every 18", in rows 6' apart.

Popular OP variety.Long, slender, dark green cucumbers. The slender, refined "Marketmore look" has long been the standard for slicing cucumbers in the North. 8–9" fruits stay uniformly dark green even under weather stress. Begins bearing late, but picks for a relatively long time. High resistance to scab; and intermediate resistance to cucumber mosaic virus, and powdery mildew. USDA Certified Organic. LATINE NAME CUCMIS SATIVUS DAYS TO MATURITY 58 DAYS LIFE CYCLE ANNAUL HYBRID STATUS OPEN POLLINATED GROWING INFORMATION CULTURE: Requires warm, well-drained soil high in fertility, with a pH of 6–6.8. Consistent, adequate irrigation is needed to produce an abundant crop. Cucumbers are very sensitive to cold. Make sure both soil and air temperatures have warmed prior to planting. Using plastic mulch and row covers will greatly enhance the vigor and potential yields of cucumbers by providing warmth and insect protection. For greenhouse or high tunnel production the use of and varieties is highly recommended. DAYS TO MATURITY: From direct seeding; subtract about 10 days for days to maturity from transplanting. TRANSPLANTING: Sow indoors in 50-cell plug trays, 1–2 seeds/cell, 3–4 weeks before transplanting. Keep temperature above 70°F (21°C) day and 60°F (16°C) night. Transplant 12" apart in rows 5–6' apart. Do not disturb roots when transplanting. DIRECT SEEDING: Wait until soil is warm, at least 70°F (21°C). Cucumber seeds will not germinate at a soil temperature below 50°F (10°C). Sow 2 seeds/ft., 1/2" deep, in rows 6' apart. Thin to 12" apart. AVG. DIRECT SEEDING RATE: 30 seeds/15', 100 seeds/50', 250 seeds/125', 500 seeds/250', 1,000 seeds/500', 15M/acre at 2 seeds/ft. in rows 6' apart. INSECT PESTS: Exclude cucumber beetles with row covers at planting, or control with insecticides such as pyrethrin or azadirachtin. DISEASE: Practice crop rotation, residue sanitation, and choose disease-resistant varieties. Control insect pests to help prevent bacterial wilt. HARVEST : 45–50°F (7–10°C) and 90% relative humidity for up to 2 weeks. NOTE: If parthenocarpic cucumbers cross-pollinate with other cucumbers, they will yield seeded fruits. Generally, seedless types are grown separately in greenhouses or hoophouses with insect screens installed to prevent cross-pollination of seeded and seedless varieties.
