و" القت " محصول علفي يزرع على نطاق واسع في مختلف ولايات السلطنة لما له من قيمة غذائية عالية ولاحتوائه على بروتين عالٍ قادر على إنتاج الطاقة لو ما قورن بغيره من المحاصيل العلفية الأخرى ومصدرًا للفيتامينات الرئيسية لغناها بالمحتويات المعدنية.
ويزرع البرسيم "القت" في موسمين زراعيين الأول خلال شهري أكتوبر ونوفمبر من كل عام وفي شهر فبراير ومارس كموسم ثانٍ، ويعتبر الموسم الأول الأكثر ملاءمة ونجاحًا نظرًا لاعتدال درجات الحرارة في حين أن الموسم الثاني ترافقه ارتفاع درجات الحرارة عالية
